Advanced surfers
If you are an advanced surfer your choice is the Barra de Mundaka.
The wave of the Barra de Mundaka breaks at the entrance of the port and is a left-handed wave.
Its sandy bottoms are conducive to the wave breaks at mid-tide or low tide and can reach a length of 400 meters.
The best swells are from the north, even northwest. The southwest wind is perfect from light to strong. The wave can be from 3/4 to 3 meters, forming perfect tubes from 1 to 2 meters.
Low tide is the best option, although you can also surf with average.
Depending on the tide there are different access and exit points to the wave zone. Generally accessed by the port side, as it is the closest point to the wave but depending on the currents can also be accessed by a small staircase located just behind the church of the town.
Beginners

Access to Laida is generally from Laidatxu beach(Mundaka) and it is recomended to do at low tide as you have to cross the estuary.
For inexperienced surfers the best option is to hire a surf course.
For surfers with intermediate knowledge there is an ideal area on the beach of Laida called Anzoras. It is on the right side of the beach and some times breaks larger and stronger waves.
